Baker's Dozen BCA #13

Hope you're not getting sick of my posts. I no longer think I can make 31 cards/projects...I KNOW I CAN, I KNOW I CAN!

#13

I've wanted to use this Bugaboo image for quite some time but wasn't sure exactly how I would. Since I've been on my 31 cards in two weeks journey, my creativity can't seem to sleep. I want to use images that aren't necessarily for breast cancer awareness and I want to add a sentiment that pull it all together. I'm not making these cards to to win challenges, I'm making these cards because I know when my oncologist's office mails them out to their patients, they will be well received. Until you've been there you really don't know how important something so thoughtful will be received.

I remember like it was yesterday exactly what I was doing and where I was when I received my diagnosis. Even before then, before the biopsy...I knew. As it would with anybody it hit me really hard. For several weeks I was a total mess. The enormity of it all had taken total control of me. Finally I did what I should have down in the very beginning...I prayed. I didn't pray for the cure. I felt praying for the cure would have been selfish. Instead I prayed for the stength to endure and battle the disease. I also prayed for my fiance'. He had lost both is mother and his maternal grandmother to breast cancer and I could see the toll it was taking on him. I also prayed for my mother. It broke my heart to have to tell her because I knew it would break her heart. The next morning my prayers had been answered. It was as if new life had been breathed into me and I've not looked back since. I just wanted to share that you all. Now back to the card.

The card base is Kraft cardstock. I colored the image w/Copics. The paper is from Me and My Big Ideas "Mambi" stack. The roses were cut with the Cricut and the Close To My Heart Art Philosoply cartridge. The glitter ribbon is die-cut with a Provo Craft Die. I printed the sentiment on my computer and cut it with a Spellbinders Nestabilities "pennant" die. Finally I added a stick pin I made myself. Stay tuned. Thirteen down and 18 to go!
