The Corrosive Challenge

I'm still recovering from my vacation and I'm so far behind on everything I think I'm ahead! This fortnight The Corrosive Challenge is sponsored by Tickled Pink Stamps. Tickled Pink Stamps is the brainchild of Aussie Kellie Winnell. Tickled Pink offers everything cute, quirky and pink. Be sure to stop by and check out her offerings. Now on to the challenge. The challenge is "Not too shabby." We'd love to see your shabby chic or vintage style creations.

This image is "Lil Worker Pinkette August." Isn't she adorable. I started by coloring the image with Prismacolor pencils. The DP are from the DCWV "Mango"stack. The sentiment is from Create with TLC. I used distressing, embossing and foam dots to pull off my shabby chic look. Is it possible that I created a card with no bling! Yikes!

Sassy Studio Designs Freebie Friday 5/25/2012

I know, I know. It's not Friday. I don't know what in the heck happened to my original post but I didn't want to miss the opportunity to post this card as it will be my last as a part of the Fabulous Freebie Friday team. I'm not leaving Sassy Studio Designs, I'll just be moving to the Dare To Be Sassy Thursday team! So without further ado...

The base card measures 6" x 6" and was colored with a combination of Copics and Prismacolor pencils. All the DP is left over from a graduation explosion box from last year. I popped the image up with foam dots. The sentiment stamp is from the $1 bin at JoAnns. I stamped the image using Close To My Heart ink and then cut it out with a Spellbinders Nestabilities die cut. Finally, I added the swirl and individual bling as the piece de resistance.

Sentimental Sundays 5/20/2012 - #103

Today's sponsor at Sentimental Sundays is "A Day For Daisies." They offer digital stamps featuring all sorts of whimsical characters. When you visit, you'll surely find something you like. The challenge this week is "Whimsical."

This image is called "A Magical Read." I colored it with Prismacolor pencils and OMS. As always, the papers are from my stash. I printed the sentiment on my computer and used a Nestabilities die cut to highlight it. Adding an organza ribbon bow and some bling and voila! I really like that the image is the focus on my card. Don't forget to stop by Sentimental Sundays to see what the rest of the fabulous DT has created.

Sassy Studio Design May Release Hop

Sassy Studio Designs has done it again! Are the new images fantastic or what? What am I talking about? First, you should have arrived her from Lori's blog...if you didn't you'll probably want to do some backtracking. If you didn't start at the beginning, and you do absolutely want to start there, click here to start at the beginning. You'll be able to get all the particulars especially how to when some or all of the new release images.

This is "Effie." With the popularity of "The Hungar Games," Lindsey modeled several designs after this popular character. I colored her with Copics and fussy cut only the torso of the image. I was going for a monochrome palette and dug through my stash and came up with these. The DP are from an old DCWV "Alphabet" stack. The card base measure 5 x 7. Once again I loosely based it on a sketch and as a result it went rather quickly. The inside mat is popped up with foam tape and the design paper was cut on the diagonal along with a solide cardstock. The stamp is from an acrylic set from "Autumn Leaves" from my favorite Dollar store. The silver doily is from Michael's in the Wilton section. I popped "Effie" up with foam tape and added the organza flower to her hat and bling on her buttons. The flowers and leaves were cut with the Cricut from the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge. The branches are from a Martha Stewart punch while the graduated bling is from my stash. I think this is the first time I've ever used an image "big head" style but it certainly won't be the last.

As a part of the hop we were asked to tell what our favorite flower is and possibly include a picture. I don't need to include a picture. Of late, I've used lots of my favorite flower on my cards. Have you figured it out yet? If not...my favorite flowers are roses. I have always loved red roses and my husband treats me to them often. In my cardmaking I love using the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge from Close To My Heart because I can make roses any color I want! With that said, hop only over to Kathy's blog and she what she has created! If for some reason you don't hop in order or get lost, you can always come back here and choose from the list below.

Sassy Studio Designs FFF 5/18/2012

Today is Friday and you know what that means! Yup! Another Fabulous Freebie from Sassy Studio Designs over at Paper Craft Planet. Without further ado...Airforce Honey!

I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and OMS. After the coloring I went all the way patriotic! The papers are from my stash. I used two different Nestabilities dies cut along with the Martha Stewart "stars" edge punch. The star bling was left over from another crafting life at least 20 years ago! For me this is a simple card--not my usual bling, flowers, ribbon etc.

Be sure to stop over at Paper Craft Planet to see what the rest of the design team created. The freebie is only available for 24 hours so don't miss it.

Sassy Studio Designs Preview Day 3

Today is day three of the Sassy Studio Design May Release. All week we will be previewing new images with Saturday culminating in a blog hop.

This image is "Sexy Marie." She's a sexier version of Marie Antoinette. I really like making vintage inspired cards and his image could be used for birthdays, just because, miss you etc. You get the idea. It could be used for just about anything. I colored Sexy Marie with Copics and Prismacolor pencils and OMS. The A2 base is Kraft cardstock. The music paper is from my stash. I incorporated dry embossing, die cutting, and hand made flowers and based it loosely on a sketch by our own Kathy Curry! The gold doily is from Wilton. As always I used dimension tape to add some and finally used a Tim Holtz adage ticket in lieu of a sentiment.

Sentimental Sundays 5/13/2012

Happy Mother's Day! Now that I've gotten that out of the way are you ready for another Sentimental Sundays Challenge? This week our sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps.

bugaboo new logo

Bugaboo offers cute whimsical characters as well as some that are just full of attitude. Don't take my word for it. See for yourself. For today only, May 13th, in celebration of Mother's day, all regular priced images are 50% off! That's right...half off.  I guarantee you'll see something you like!

The challenge this week is to use embellishment that start with "B." I used "JJ Tequila and Shoes- Happy Birthday." I colored her with Copic markers and Spica pens. The "cupcake" paper is Recollections from Michaels. I used Bling, Black, Blue, Brads and a Bow. In my mind they all qualify as embellishments! It's my story and I'm sticking with it. I rarely used brads and whenever I do manage to in corporate even one into my card, I'm am just beside myself with excitement! Just image my excitement using four on the same project! The sheer organza ribbon was left over from a previous project and was the very end of the spool. I added faux stitch with a Gelly Roll pen and popped up the image and sentiment with foam dots.

Be sure to stop by the Sentimentals Sundays blog to see the rest of the DT creations. I've got to run now, I've got shopping to do at Bugaboo Stamps!

Corrosive Challenge 5/13/2012

Time for another Corrosive Challenge. This week's sponsor is

If you've never visited the Tickled Pink store, you are missing a treat!

This week's challenge is flowers, bling and doilies. Use at least two on your card. I used Easter Pinkette Daisy August. Isn't she super cute? I colored her with a combinations of Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils and OMS. The centers of the flower's she is holding is highlighted with Stickles. The base card is 5 x 7 and the white mat measures 4 3/4 x 6 3/4. The purple pin-dot paper is from my stash. The doily is from Wilton--the cake people. I wanted to include some flowers but thought they would clash with the daisies Easter Pinkette is holding. Instead I used the flowered ribbon. I think I bought it at Hobby Lobby at least two years ago. It's not unusual for me to add bling to my cards so I decided to also add purple Skittles around the doily to create some additional interest. Don't forget to stop by the Corrosive Challenge to see what the rest of the design team created.

Feel better soon

I just wanted to show a card I made yesterday. While it seems some cards take forever, this one took no time at all. Could it be that I was loosely following a sketch. I am an avid sewer and have been at it for 45 years. I always use a pattern but when it comes to using a sketch for card making, I just can seem to get the hang of it! I usually wind up going off in a totally different direction! That wasn't the case with this card.

The image is from The Greeting Farm and is called "Cheeky Nurse." I colored her with Prismacolor pencils and OMS with some highlights added with Copic glitter pens. The card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2". The papers are from my stash. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder and a Gelly Roll pen to add some faux stitching. The grograin ribbon is from Hobby Lobby and goes nicely with my faux stitching. The edge punch is from Martha Stewart while the bling and sentiment are from my stash. As always I popped the image up with foam dots for some added dimension. Thanks for looking!

It's that time again - SSD FFF

It's Friday and you know what that means...another freebie from Sassy Studio Designs over at Paper Craft Planet. Don't forget that it's only available for 24 hours so don't wait.

This week's image is Preggo Honey. What expectant mother wouldn't want a card or some other paper craft made with this super cute image?

I colored the image w/Prismacolor pencils and OMS. For some reason I seem to be over the Copics. Sure I use them here and there, but these days I mostly use my colored pencils. The papers are all from a Recollections paper pack from Michaels. I used one of my favorite Nestabilities dies - scalloped oval - to created a subtle frame behind the image. I'm not sure whether the stamp is from Fiskars or Inkadinkado. Finally I added pop dots, bling and sheer organza ribbon to finish this card off. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to grab the freebie at Paper Craft Planet.

Today is Fabulous Freebie Friday at Sassy Studio Designs over at Paper Craft Planet. Be sure to stop over and pick up today's Fabulous Freebie. Remember it's only available for 24 hours and you don't want to miss out! Today's freebie is "Mrs. S" as in Mrs. Sassy!

I colored her with Prismacolor pencils and OMS. The papers are from the Recollection line from Michaels. I recently bought three 6 x 6 paper pads for the line and I am loving them. I only wish they were cardstock and not paper. Either way I getting a lot of use out of them. Like most of my cards it is A2 size. I fussy cut Mrs. S and popped her up with foam dots. While digging through my stash of embellishments, I found the cute wormy apple and crayon shakers and knew they would work perfectly. The glittery apple sticker is from 3 Birds. Be sure to stop over at Paper Craft Planet to check out what the rest of the Fabettes created and don't forget to nab the freebie!
