Corrosive Challenge 4/29/2012

Time for another Corrosive Challenge. This fortnight challenge is to use Tim Holtz products on your creation.

I started out with a Sassy Studio Design image "Elizabeth Barnett." The image was colored with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils with OMS.The card base is 5.25" x 5.25" and is made from Kraft cardstock. I added cardstock that I distressed the edges of and topped with a vintage looking paper from my stash. I used one of my favorite Tim Holtz dies to cut the distressed clock and cut it with white core paper that I distressed with sand paper. I added the Tim Holtz ornate frame and sentiment along with a length of hemp cord. Finally I added flowers and leaves cut with the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy and my Cricut. The branches were cut with a Martha Stewart punch and the cognac colored swirl bling is from my stash from Michael's Recollection collection. Be sure to stop by the Corrosive Challenge blog to see what the rest of the design team has created!

Welcome to the SSD FANtastic Blog Hop

Welcome to the Sassy Studio Designs FANtastic blog hop.  It's been a while but anything worth having is worth waiting on. Sorry about the late posting but this darn new format from Blogger is very screwy. I scheduled this post to go live at 3:00 AM EST and what happened? Absolutely nothing. Luckily I'm up early this morning and decided to check on how the hop was going. And now, on to the show!

You should have arrived here from Mary's blog. If you didn't,  you might want to do a little backtracking. Just click on the link and you'll be there in a flash. If you didn't start at SSD you'll need to start there to get all the info on how to win free images.  At the end of this post is a list of all the DT and their blogs. You'll want to visit each and everyone to experience the awesomeness of the entire Sassy Studio Design Team!

So without further ado...I'd like you to meet "Renaissance Sassy."

I colored "Renaissance Sassy" with Prismacolor pencils and OMS. I fussy cut and popped her up with pop dots. The base is Kraft cardstock and layered with various papers from my stash.  The printed paper is Close To My Heart. I used some distressing techniques as well as decorative colored pearls also from my stash. The flowers and leaves were cut with the Close To My Heart "Art Philosophy" cartridge and my Cricut. The branches were made using a Martha Stewart  branch punch. I also used one of my favorite Nestabilites die cuts. The sentiment is from TLC Creations.

As a part of this hop the DT was asked to share our favorite and least favorite crafting tool. Well I can immediatlye say that my least favorite tool is those darn goofy scissors with the different edges. I absolutely hate them. I couldn't get a decent continuous cut with them if my life depended on it. As a matter of fact I think I've thrown them away.

My favorite crafting tool are rubberbands. That's right, plain 'ol ordinary rubber bands. I have them everywhere and on everything. So what am I using them for? First I love my Tim Holtz Distress Inks but those tops are the most ill-fitting of any ink pads I've ever seen. I rubberband them together in "3's" and it's perfect. Another thing I use them for are my Nestabilities. I keep my Nestabilities in a small photo album and keep the album together with what else? A rubberband. I keep my groups of Prismacolor pencils together with rubberbands as well. I could go on and on but you get the idea. Probably not what you're expecting as a crafting tool but it works for me and I subscribe to the "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it" school!

BTW be sure to join us tonight on the party blog for a chat with the design team! The party starts at 7pm PDT (10pm EDT). Hope to "see" you there!

From here,  your next stop should be to Rebecca's blog.  She's "got skills" and you won't want to miss her stop!

Sassy Studio Designs Freebie Friday 4/20/12

It's time for another Sassy Studio Designs freebie. Don't forget to stop over at Paper Craft Planet because the freebie will only be available for 24 hours. The challenge again is "Leather and lace."

I colored "Sassy Jeanie" with Copics. The design papers are from Recollections from Michael's. I added machine stitching to add moredepth. The lace was leftover from a wedding dress I made for someone years ago. The "jeanie" bottle was cut with the Cricut. Unfortunately I don't remember from which cartridge. I popped the image up with foam dots and highlighted it with bling on her ear, top and waistband. I really wanted to add tulle to the image but couldn't quite come up with anything I liked so I simply tied a bow with it. As a finishing touch I add the a little more bling and a sentiment.

The Corrosive Challenge 4/15/2012

It's time for another Corrosive Challenge. This fortnight challenge is sponsored by Dilly Beans and the theme is "Hit the bottle." Hold on a second, don't break out the Scotch on the rocks just yet! Use something from a bottle on your card (Stickles, liquid applique, glaze, crackle finish, liquid pearls, etc).

The card base is Kraft card stock and the image was colored w/Copics. The solid papers are from DCWV while the design paper is from Close To My Heart. The edges or all papers were distressed to give the card a vintage feel. I used a Nestabilities die cut and distressed the edges of it as well. The metal frame and sentiment is from Tim Holtz. The bling was colored with Copics. The butterfly was made with a Martha Stewart punch and is covered with glitter glue. My "Hit the bottle" item is Glossy Accents. The entire eye is covered with it and gives this card a very distinct look.

Be sure to visit the Corrosive Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT has created as well as to enter your own design!
