The Crazy Quilt of Life

After my recent vacation I'm slowly getting back to my crafty self. Using leftover scraps that are littering my desk I crafted this cute card using dies from Frantic Stamper -- Flying Geese Quilt Square and accompanying clear stamps Homemade Quilts.

I added Baker's Twine and buttons from my stash. Who would think this card is made from leftovers? Not me!

Lady's Shoe

I'm sure you don't know this about me but I absolutely love fashion. I have sewn 99% of my own clothing for years. Of course I have to have the perfect shoes to complement my fashions. When I saw this new die it left me breathless with thoughts of the kinds of cards I could make for my fashion conscience friends!

I started by cutting my inner mat of white cardstock and the 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" Stitched Rectangle Panel from the Elementals #1 Basic set. Then using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, I stamped the sentiment using the Girl Time Clear Stamp Set.Using both black and red cardstock I cut the new Lady's Shoe die. I removed the middle cut and the insides of the rear flowers from the black image. Next I cut the rear flowers apart from the main red image carefully, leaving the cutouts intact, and glued them under the outline left under the black cutouts. I then cut the lower part of the red shoe away removing about 1/4" away from the heel height. I offset this piece by about 1/16" lower and forward of the black shoe outline and glued them together. I wanted to give the appearance of the uber expensive "red bottom" shoes. Finally I added glue to the entire black shoe outline and the red insert and positioned it above the sentiment. I dug through my stash for the design paper and the bling (my absolutely favorite embellishment of all time) and added to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" base and voila!

Fast and Easy - Hey lady

I don't like saying a project is Clean and Simple. I think it implies that it can't be fabulous. Instead I like "Fast and Easy." Is there a difference? Probably not but hey...My circus, My monkeys! LOL. When I received my latest Frantic Stamper design team dies I was overjoyed. Each time I think the die designs couldn't get better, Kathy Berger (die designer), hits another one out of the park. The entire latest release is absolutely fabulous. Thanks so much Kathy.
It took me longer to get the supplies together than it did to put the card together. I had a plan and was able to execute it perfectly.

I started by folding my card base in half and rounding one corner with a Crop A Dile 1/2" Corner Chomper. I chose a DCWV white core textured paper as the "sky." I cut the San Francisco Cityscape with both black and brown paper and glued them together, offsetting them slight to to create a shadow. Next I used the lady herself, the Statue of Liberty precision die. I used a double sided foil paper I have in my stash and sometimes it is impossible to cut. As I wanted to keep all of the cutouts intact and it worked perfectly I added foam squares for added dimension. Finally I used the Sunburst Card Panel and a round die to cut the sun. In my opinion the sentiment is the "cherry on top." It's from My Creative Time, was stamped onto Vellum with Staz-On Jet Black ink.

You're In My Prayers

It's always a good idea to have sympathy cards on hand. I've decided to add some to my collection. For this card I used the Frantic Stamper Inc Lily of the Valley die. I used Kraft cardstock to cut the die and added Tim Holtz "Vintage Photo" Distress Ink. Next I used gold foil paper to cut just part of the die. I carefully cut the foil flowers away and glued them in place on the Kraft cardstock. For the sentiment I used a die from Elementals #1 with Vellum paper and a sentiment from my stash.

Just For You

My new Frantic Stamper Inc dies arrived today and I couldn't wait to get started using them. I started by cutting the Hot Air Balloon (FRA-Die-09491) die out of four different colors. I chose the blue sky DCWV paper as the the background. After gluing the balloon base done I used the cut-outs from the remaining colors and puzzle-pieced the different colors into place. I use Kraft cardstock as the basket of the balloon. Next I used one of the Wavy Banners dies (FRA-Die-09475) cut from Vellum paper. The sentiment is from a soon to be released Frantic Stamper Inc stamp set.

Put On Your Party Pants

It's been a few weeks since I posted a card. I have a serious bout with the flu and I am just now getting back in the swing of thing. I had a fever of 105+ for four days. I was delirious and so weak I had to use a walker to finally make it to the doctor's office. I still don't have all of my strength back and have lost my sense of taste and smell. I'm hoping that comes back on it's own. I'm so sick of taking medications that the side effects are worst than the illness! My sarcoidosis has really calmed down and I have I hope that it's in remission!

I've always like this KennyK image but have never used it. When I saw this sentiment at Create w/TLC I knew I'd finally use it. My style dictates that I have the perfect sentimnet to go with an image. My BIL has a birthday coming up and he will really get a kick out of this card. The design paper is from DCWV. I also used a Cuddlebug embossing folder to carry on the star theme. The image was colored with Copic markers. I added a large piece of bling as a "disco ball" along with some glitter glue. The sentiment was cut with Frantic Stamper Inc "Cartoon Speech Bubbles" while the "Musical Score" and "Wine Bottle and Glass" set were used to finish off the party theme!

Don't Worry Be Happy

The latest Frantic Stamper Inc dies have been released and this card is my very first effort using them. How cute is this?

The sunflower design paper is from my stash. Using a Die-namics "Pierced Rectangle" die and solid white paper, I cut and inked clouds usings Close To My Heart Heavenly Blue ink. Next I used the Lady Bug and Bee die set along with a sentiment from a soon to be released Frantic Stamper Inc stamp set. The bee was cut from papers also from my stash while the wings are cut from Vellum. I coated the wings with glue and Martha Stewart "sugar cube" colored fine glitter. Finely I added foam squares for added dimension.

Be sure to stop by Frantic Stamper Inc to view all the new dies and stay tuned for the stamps. The stamps are made from a high quality polymer and are top notch. You won't be disappointed.

Coloring Practice

I've colored so many images lately I've decided to actually use some of them. This image is a freebie from Jade Dragoone (sp).  I colored it with Copic markers and fussy cut. I dug into my paper stash and found this wonder paper from A We Are Memory Keepers kit and used bits of foil and glitter paper. I incorporated die cuts from my absolute favorite dies -- Frantic Stamper Elementals #1 (Basic shapes) and Elementals #8 (Arched Labels). The embossing folder is from Paper Studios and the heart shapes are punched with Fiskars and Martha Stewart. To add some additional texture I used foam squares and Tim Holtz "Barn Door" Distress Ink. The sentiment is a $1 wooden stamp from a big box store.

Howdy

For some reason I usually have a hard time making masculine cards but this card is an exception. When I saw the "Howdy" word die from a recent Frantic Stamper Inc, release I knew immediately I would pair it with the Cowboy Accessories die. Starting with a Kraft cardstock base, I chose papers from my stash. The hat was cut from craft foam and as I love to do with Frantic Stamper dies, I didn't remove the cutouts. Using two different foil papers, silver and gold, I cut different elements to add dimension. Finally I added foam dots and brads. I think this card gets a resounding thumbs up as a masculine card.

Cheers - Update

The newest Frantic Stamper Inc dies are available and as always they are AH-MA-ZING! I sometimes use other company's dies but Frantic Stamper dies are my favorite. I always get perfect cuts and never have to use shims or Wax Paper. If you haven't tried them you, you are doing yourself a disservice! With that said...let's get on to my masculine inspired celebratory card.

Update: A few minutes ago I realized there was a piece of paper stuck to my "house dress." After closer examination I realized it was a die cut that was supposed to be on this card. Imagine my shock when I realized he never made it to the card before the photos were taken! What a bummer.

Here's the card after the update. I like it much better and it has more of the masculine feel it should have had in the beginning!

It features Champagne glass and Cheers (FRA-Die-09326), the wine bottle from the Wine Bottle and Glass (FRA-Die-09063), Grapevine Border (FRA-Die-09278), Joseph (FRA-Die-09324) and Sunburst Card Panel (FRA-Die-09141). I like to leave some of the supposed cut outs intact. I think it adds yet another dimension of texture to the dies. I also like to remove some cut outs and replace with different colored cutouts as with the Grapevine Border. I think the gold foil paper really gives it the celebratory feel I was going for. This could easily be a birthday, promotion, an "atta boy" or any number of occasions. I hope you enjoy it and stay tuned for more fabulous Frantic Stamper Inc die inspired creations.

Hope - Breast Cancer Awareness

We all know October is breast cancer awareness month. I am a 5-year survivor and I thank God everyday for giving me the strength to weather that storm. I come from a family of survivors including my mother, aunt and several cousins. One thing that I do every year is provide my oncologists office with cards to send to patients that are particularly need "pick-me-up." Hope is the one thing all cancer patients need. Why don't you commit to making at least one breast cancer awareness card this month?

My card was created using dies from Frantic Stamper, Inc. I started with a Kraft cardstock base and added a solid pink mat. Next I attached a raveled edge burlap piece and attached it with matching pink staples. Next using a small scrap and the Frantic Stamper Instant Photo 3 x 4 Photo Card die (FRA-Die-09148) also cut from Kraft cardstock, I attached it to the card base. Using the Small Hope and Ribbon die (FRA-Die-09216) and the Frantic Stamper Large Support Ribbon (FRA-Die- 09214) were the finishing touches!

Clean and Simple w/Frantic Stamper

It's World Cardmaking Day! What are you working on? I have several cards in the works. This card is a scraplift from the internet. I wish I could remember the site I got my inspiration from but can I just say, "I LOVE THIS CARD!" I've been told my style is clean and simple but I don't see it that way. I love adding bling, colored digis and sentiments. In my mind that is not clean and simple but this card is.

I started with my usual 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch base. Using a large Spellbinders Nestabilities circle die, I embossed it into the center of the base. I inked the innermost circle to highlight it.  Next I added a die cut of two of the Three Wise Men Silhouette from Frantic Stamper Inc. Using a small circle die, I cut a "moon" out of glitter paper and used silver foil paper cut the word Peace from  Frantic Stamper Inc. Finally I used an Anna Griffin small star punch for a final bit of decoration. It was fast, it was easy and I love it. I did have to make it into a tent card. My white cardstock doesn't have a lot of "umph" to it and doesn't want to stand on it's own. So I channeled my "inner Tim Gunn" and made it work. I hope you like it and maybe it'll inspire you too, to make something for World Cardmaking Day!
UPDATE: I take most of my photos inside and usually in the bathroom. I wanted to see if taking them outside would make that much of a difference. Of course the background change didn't hurt!

Scary Words

The year is slowing coming to a close. Can you believe it's October already? This is breast cancer awareness month so be you are up-to-date with your mammogram and take care of your breast health. As usual in October expect to see lots of BCA cards but this isn't one of them. October is also Halloween month and I absolutely love making Halloween inspired cards. Expect to so lots of those here as well.

Today is the start of Challenge #181 at Kenny K's Krafty Krew. The theme for the next two weeks is
Orange and Black.

I used Trixxie Treat from Kenny K and printed her "big head" style. I colored here with Copic Markers adding Stickles, Liquid Glass and a white Gelly Roll pen to add highlights and additional interest. I cut and embossed the image with a Spellbinder Nestabilities Oval die. The background paper is from Martha Stewart. I also used "Scary Words" dies from Frantic Stamper highlighted with white ink. Finally I popped the image up with foam dots.

You Hold the Key

I saw this Die Cuttin Divas sketch and immediately wanted to use it. There is something about it that really appealed to me and I don't often use sketches. I was digging through my crafty stuff today, looking for something else, when I ran across this stamp. I'd totally forgotten I had it. Immediately the crafty juices started flowing and I knew what I wanted to do with it.

After deciding on the sketch, I chose a paper pack from my stash--Glitz Paper Pack "Yours Truly."

The image is "Home Sweet Home" from My Favorite Things. After coloring it with Copic Markers I die cut and embossed it with Spellbinder Nestabilities "Labels 18." I think I followed the sketch pretty closely except for rounding the corners with my favorite Crop A Dile 1/2" Corner Chomper. I popped the image up with foam dots and added the super cute "Keys to My Heart" die set from Frantic Stamper. I've never had a need to use shims or scissors. Even the most intricate designs cut perfectly. Believe me when I tell you Frantic Stamper has some wonderful dies. Click on the link above to see the large selection of dies they have to choose from. Aren't the keys just the perfect complement to the image and the sentiment? The sentiment was cut with the My Favorite Things Dienamics "Fishtail Flags Layers Stax", also available from Frantic Stamper.

Finally I added rhinestone bling because...it's who I am! LOL. No card is complete without it!
