Dare To Be Sassy Thursday 8/30/2012

Time for another Dare To Be Sassy Thursday challenge at Sassy Studio Designs but first things first. Today is my third wedding anniversary! Hurray! It's been a wonderful three years and is my first and only marriage. I'm sure we'll have many more.

Sassy Studio Designs is also having a design team call. If you love SSD and think you would like to be a part of a wonderful design team you should give it a shot. They accept designers of all levels. Click here for all the details.

Now...onto the DTBST challenge. This week's challenge is our monthly Christmas challenge. Create a project with a Christmas theme.

I used images Sexy Santa, Reindeer Games, and Frostina. Each image was colored w/Copics and fussy cut. I made this center step card starting with 5  1/2" x 11" paper. I changed the side measurements to 1 1/2" and made the center 2 1/2." The paper is from the Paper Studio. I added multiple mats and some machine stitching along w/foam tape to create tis masterpiece. The sentiment is from Close To My Heart and cut w/a Spellbinders Nestabilities. The finishing touch was to add bling and some glitter pen accents.

Kenny K Krafty Krew Anything Goes

Because I am on so many design teams, I rarely create cards other than for challenges. This card is the exception. I purchased this image a couple of weeks ago and have been itching to use it.

I colored the image w/Copics and cut it out with a Spellbinders Nestabilities. The bg paper is from DCWV. I used this Fiskars edge punch that is now my new favorite. I added to sewing machine stitching and some bling to add some more interest on the background paper. This ribbon has been in my stash "forevah." It has wired edges and is much wider than what I would normally use on a card but I thought it was a good contrast to the colors I used on the dress.  The sentiment is from Create w/tlc. I hope you like it.

Jackson Digital Expressions sketch challange 8/28/2012

It's time for another sketch challenge at Jackson Digital Expressions!

Although I don't use them nearly as much as I should, I love working with sketches. Why burn up valuable brain cells if you don't really need to! LOL. I started out with Robert's image "Uh-Oh" and colored it with Copics. The papers are from a Recollections pack from Michael's. I used matting to give the relatively simple card a "Wow" factor. Along with pop dots I used Glossy Accents on the eyes and tongue to make them really stand out. I made the sentiment using an alphabet stamp from my stash. Finally I added bling and organza ribbon tied into a bow.

Why not join me and the other design team members by creating something with sketch? Please stop in at JDE to see what the rest of desitn team has created.

Digi Darla Challenge 8/27/2012

If you haven't already please enter some of the Digi Darla Challenges. You have a chance to either win some of the FABULOUS and I do mean FABULOUS Digi Darla images or some from one of our wonderful sponsors. This week our sponsor is Bugaboo Digital Stamps.

The challenge this week is to make a card for "the lil ones."

Children's card are always a challenge for me but as always I was up to the task. Using "Kidlet Superman" from Bugaboo, I colored the image w/Copics. Using papers from my stash, I tried to create an Americana background. I used the "stars" Cuttlebug folder. Finally Using the Superman cartridge and my Cricut, I cut out the Superman emblem and attached it to the image. Next I cut out the Superman word art and used the Mickey Mouse font to cut out "kid." Instead of glueing "man" onto "Super" I used "kid" instead. I really like the way this card turned out and am sure any little boy would love it.

Be sure to stop by DDC to see what the rest of the design team has created and to enter your own creastion as well!

Sentimental Sundays 8/26/2012

I hope you are joining us at Sentimental Sundays challenges. Creative in our challenges is a good way to "flex your creative muscles" beyond what you normally create. For me it has made me become creative in ways I never would have imagined.  This week's challenge is "Sewing or faux stitching." Hope to see your creations soon!

I used Sassy Carrie from a recent Sassy Studio Designs release. I colored her w/Copics. The b/g paper is from DCWV while the die-cut is from Spellbinders. The edge punch is from Fiskars. I used my favorite ribbon--organza. I sewing a straight and zigzag stitch almost all around as a border. Finally I added a sentiment from Create w/TLC, bling and pop dots. Not a lot of effort for what a consider a very classy card. Please stop by Sentimental Sundays to see what the rest of the design team has created!

Sassy Studio Designs Villianous Villians Blog Hop

You should have arrived her from Jamie's blog. If not please go back and leave a comment. If for some reason you didn't hop in order you can use the list below to get back on track.

Meet Cruella De Vil

How can someone so beautiful be so cruel to puppies! I colored the image w/Copics. I so wanted to use white paper with black spots as the background paper but none was to be found! While perusing my stash my eyes fell on this paper from the DCWV Alphabet Stack and my dastardly card was hatched. I started seeing spots! I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder "Spots and Dots" to emboss the black cardstock. The spotted ribbon is from my stash. Because Cruella is so dastardly beautiful, I just had to give here roses! I cute the roses with the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge and my Cricut machine. The leaves and branches are cut with the Cricut and two different Martha Stewart Punches. I also used the Spellbinders "Deckled Oval, Rectangle" and "Circle" dies. Finally I added clear and black bling and foam tape. The sentiment was from my own twisted mind! She is cruel but beautiful!

We were also asked to post our favorite Disney movie. I think my all-time favorite Disney Movie is the animated "Beauty and the Beast." Not only did I love the movie but I loved the soundtrack featuring Peabo Bryson.

From here you should hop on over to Christy's blog where I know you will be in for another dastardly treat. Also don't forget we will be having a Villianous SSD chat tonight at 7 pm (pst) so be there or you'll have to hide more than your puppies!

Dare to Be Sassy Thursday 8/23/2012

It's time for another Dare To Be Sassy Thursday at Sassy Studio Designs. Today's challenge is "Finish the inside." I don't know about you but I usually leave the insides of my cards blank. Because I sell most of my cards, I'd burn up way too many brain cells trying to figure out what to say. It's one of the great things about being on this wonderful design team. We are always challenged to "step outside the box" and flex our creative muscles.

I started out with Phillipines Honey from SSD most recent release. I colored here with Copics and paper-pieced her here dress and fan. I used the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge along with my Cricut to cut and stamp the outside sentiment. The background paper is also CTMH. I used both Cheery Lynn Designs and Spellbinder Nestabilities die-cuts to cut addition shapes. I absolutely love organza ribbon and used it to tie a bow and finally added bling, foam tape, a Martha Stewart branch punch, Fiskars edge punch and wooden stamp to finish off the design.

Be sure to stop by SSD blog to enter your design and to see what the other designers have created!

Jackson Digital Expression

Today Jackson Digital Expression is being sponsored by the Cutting Cafe. The challenge this week is "Anything goes."
I've used a JDE image and colored it with Copics. The background paper is from DCWV's "Nana's Kitchen" stack. Using a Cuttlebug embossing folder I add subtle texture. The sentiment is from Create w/tlc and I added my favorite...organza ribbon. Finally I added bling in only three corners. Be sure to stop by JDE blog to see what the rest of the design team created.

Mining for Silver

Today at Digi Darla Challenges we are challenging you to "Mine for Silver." We want to see silver on your card.

I started w/the image "Back to School." I colored it with Copics and used a Spellbinders die-cut.  The edge punch is from EK Success. All of the papers are from my stash as well as the "push pin" and the "ABC shaker." Finally I cut the "A+" with my Cricut from a very reflect silver paper. There is a little girl at my church that I just know will love this car. Be sure to stop by DDC to see what the rest of the design team has created!

Corrosive Challenge - Cute as a Button

Good morning. I hope you are ready for another fortnight challenge from the Corrosive Challenge. The challenge is to use at least one button on your creation. Our sponsor once again is Saturated Canary.

I created this bookmark with an awesome Saturated Canary image. I colored it with Copics. The great thing about making bookmarks is that they require so little paper. The papers are from my scrap pile. I used faux stitching created with a white Gelly Roll pen. The stars were cut with the Cricut from the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge. I chose the pink buttons because they add a great pop of color and have a star design in the middle. Finally I used a sentiment stamp from my stash and a Die-namics die.

Be sure to stop my the CC blog to see what the rest of the design team created and to enter your own creation.

Sentimental Sundays

Today at Sentimental Sundays the challenge is "Banners and Pennants." Our sponsor this week is Tiddly Inks. To help to get your creative juices flowing our very talented design team member, Nicole, has provided us with this fabulous sketch.

I started with the super cute freebie,Kiki, coloring it w/Copics. The base is Kraft cardstock--the background from DCWV's Fall stack. The die-cut ribbon is from Spellbinders and the sentiment created using Close To My Hearts "Card Word Puzzle" stamp. The pennants were punched with a Fiskars punch with the image being from the same stamp as the sentiment. The pennants are linked together with twine from my stash. Finally I added the bling the give the card a little bit of shine. Be sure to stop by SS to see what the rest of the design teams creations.

Sassy Studio Designs Dare To Be Sassy Thursday

Not only is it Dare to Be Sassy Thursday at Sassy Studio Designs, it also my birthday! Happy birthday to me. Yes that's right--double nickel. I'm 55 years old today and I am just happy to be alive. There are so many that never made it to this age. I have a wonderful life, I survived breast cancer three years ago, a total knee replacement in November, I have a wonderful husband and a wonderful hobby. What more could I possible ask for! Now back to DTBST.

The challenge this week is "pop it up."

I started w//India Honey and colored her with Copics. The background paper is from DCWV's Taj Mahal stack. I added the "temple" from the Tinkerbell & Friends Cricut cartridge. I stamped the sentiment using the CTMH Word Puzzle stamps. I added some sparkle w/ a glitter pen and bling and colored her forehead jewel w/ a Copic marker as well. The feather is from my stash and I popped her up with a "wobble" that has been in my stash since last year. Hope you like the effect.

DigiDarla Challenge Digging for Gold

This week at DigiDarla Challenges the theme is "Digging for Gold." We want to see gold ribbon, bling, etc.

I used the Digi Darla image "Very Vogue." I colored her with Copics and used paper from my stash for the paper-piecing. The embossed "Queen of Hearts" is a Tim Holtz embossing folder. I distress the edges and the edges of the gold background paper. I used the gold ribbon, bling and foam dots as the finishing touch. The sentiment is from Create w/tlc. Be sure to stop by DDC to see what the rest of the very talented design team has created.

Sentimental Sundays 8/12/2012

This week's challenge at Sentimental Sundays is "Clean and Simple" with the added bonus of using a sketch designed by the very talented Nicole.

Unfortunately I didn't use the sketch but you can believe I've saved it because it will really come in handy at a later date.

I've never attempted a Clean and Simple card and it was harder than I expected but I think I rose to the occasion

The image "Tinkerbell Honey" is from Sassy Studio Designs. I printed two images. I colored one with Copics and added Martha Stewart glitter on her "wings." I also added bling on her shoes and silver beads in her hair. The uncolored image was printed in the position it would be on the card. I used a QuickCutz embosing folder to emboss a frame around the image. MS glitter was added to the wings of the uncut image. Using foam dots I positioned the colored image over the uncolored image while curling part of the wing up from the paper to create the illusion of a flapping wing.. Finally I stamped the sentiment, from Close to My Heart with "Tulip" CTMH ink.

Be sure to stop by Sentimental Sundays to see what wonderful creations the rest of the design teams have come up with.
