The Crazy Quilt of Life

After my recent vacation I'm slowly getting back to my crafty self. Using leftover scraps that are littering my desk I crafted this cute card using dies from Frantic Stamper -- Flying Geese Quilt Square and accompanying clear stamps Homemade Quilts.

I added Baker's Twine and buttons from my stash. Who would think this card is made from leftovers? Not me!

Sassy Studio Designs July Progressive Challenge

My Sassy Studio Design Progressive Challenge July 2015 is finished!

I colored the image with Copic markers and then using a Paper Studios embossing folder along with DCWV white core paper, I sanded it with sand paper.  Next I used the Frantic Stamper Precision Die set Love Filled Heart along with glitter and foil paper. The next part forced me to find a way to align the Frantic Stamper Wavy Banners and Greetings stamp set with the Wavy Banners die set. It was actually very simple and now I have a sure fire way to get it right.

This is my first attempt. It's not bad but I'm a little OCD. I wanted the stamp and die to align better.

  • Die cut the wavy banner using a small piece of cardstock. This is your template.

  • Stamp the wavy banner onto your chosen cardstock.

  • Using a piece a Painter's or other easily removable tape, align and tape the template on top of the stamped image.

  • Now position the die onto the template and secure it with a piece of tape.

  • Finally run this "sandwich" through your die cutting machine and voila!

Use this same technique for any die with matching stamp for perfect results. Tip: Be sure to keep the template in the same packaging as the die.

Flashback Friday - Sassy Studio Designs

Is it Friday again already? Well, you know what time it is...

"Every Friday the team will provide you with inspiration on a particular image. These are images are ones that may have been forgotten about, or need a little extra lovin!" This week, the image in the spotlight is Edward of the Twilight series. He'll be offered at a discount for one week!

I was trying to create the idea that Edward is gazing out of a window and missing his true love. Did you get it? I started by printing the image much larger than I normally would and colored it with Copic markers and highlighted the buttons on his coat with a Krylon silver leafing marker. After selecting papers form my stash, I used my favorite Frantic Stamper Inc Elementals #1 (Basic Shapes) die for the stitched background mat. Next I used the Frantic Stamper new Arched Window die along with paper depicting the sky. Finally I added a Dienamics Stitched Circle die with a sentiment from Create with TLC and foam squares to hit my idea home.

KennyKs Christmas in July

July is half over. Where did the time go? At KennyKs Krafty Krew we are up to challenge #199. Expect something extra special for challenge #200! Back to the challenge at hand. As always our challenges are Anything Goes with a twist. For this challenge the twist is
Christmas July
That's pretty much self explanatory! Just remember you must use a KennyK image to enter. Don't have a KennyK image? Be sure to stop by KennyK downloads and grab the monthly freebie. Now show us what you got!

I really struggled with this challenge. We're in the middle of the golf season here in Michigan and Christmas was the last thing on my mind. I'd colored the image a couple of weeks ago but inspiration didn't follow. Finally I dug into a box of Recollections cards that I bought on clearance last year. Next I dug into my drawer of Christmas paraphernalia and came up with the Christmas tree rub on. From there I used an EK Success edge punch, Frantic Stamper Inc Wavy Banner Stamp and die and finally the sentiment from a Studio G $1 stamp. Of course no card is complete without bling and foam squares!
