Ready Set Smile

My and my husband's favorite aunt (my side of the family) celebrated a birthday on Sunday. This is the card he dug from my stash to give to her.

The image is from Sassy Studio Designs and was colored w/Copic Markers. After coloring, the image was cut with a Dienamics Pierced Square Die. I'm sure I used a sketch but can't recall where it originated. The design papers are from my stash. I also used a Cuddlebug embossing folder and Spellbinders Nestabilities Pennant die with the sentiment from Creat w/TLC. Although it's not showing up well in the photos I also used a glue pen and Ranger Holographic Embossing Powder to add highlights to the cake. Finally I added foam squares, flowers from my stash, clear rhinestone bling, and Gelly Roll pen as the finishing touches.

My aunt is crafty in her own right so this card along with a craft store gift card were the perfect gift!

Frantic Stamper Clean and Simple Foursome

I'm proud to say I'm a member of the Frantic Stamper, Inc. design team. If you've not shopped at Frantic Stamper, Inc., you have missed a one-stop shop scrapbooking experience. Fran Robertson is the owner operator, while Kathy Berger is the resident Frantic Stamper Precision die designer. You can pre-order releases and easily shop the in-stock assortment. With this latest release I am doing the happy dance. Remember Steve Martin's excitement with the release of the new phone book in The Jerk? That was me when I received my new dies. I am in awe of the simplicity as well as the detail of them all. Is that an oxymoron? How can something be simple and yet still detailed. I don't know but they are awesome. Frantic Stamper dies fuel my creative arsenal and make me better than I ever thought I could be. Please do take the time to visit the online store. I am sure you'll find something you love!
Now that I'm finished gushing...check out my latest creations.

I am not a Clean and Simple girl but using Frantic Stamper Inc dies, this is CAS done right. I created these quartet of cards using dies only. Each card uses four dies. I could have created more but I just couldn't wait to share these. The dies used are Elementals #1 (FRA-Die-09306), Nativity Christmas Bauble (FRA-Die-09296), Deer Christmas Bauble (FRA-Die-09295), Teardrop Christmas Bauble Background (FRA-Die-09294 and finally Happy Holidays (FRA-Die-09293). I especially like that the Deer Christmas Bauble creates a wonderful and masculine holiday card.

These dies cut with absolute precision so don't be put off with my "Happy Holidays." I've never even had to use shims with Frantic Stamper dies in either my Cuddlebug or my Big Shot. I like to leave some of the cut-outs in place for added dimension and flair. Don't these look great? Be sure to visit Frantic Stamper, Inc. online! Expect to see more Clean and Simple cards using these same dies in different variations!

Hope - Breast Cancer Awareness

We all know October is breast cancer awareness month. I am a 5-year survivor and I thank God everyday for giving me the strength to weather that storm. I come from a family of survivors including my mother, aunt and several cousins. One thing that I do every year is provide my oncologists office with cards to send to patients that are particularly need "pick-me-up." Hope is the one thing all cancer patients need. Why don't you commit to making at least one breast cancer awareness card this month?

My card was created using dies from Frantic Stamper, Inc. I started with a Kraft cardstock base and added a solid pink mat. Next I attached a raveled edge burlap piece and attached it with matching pink staples. Next using a small scrap and the Frantic Stamper Instant Photo 3 x 4 Photo Card die (FRA-Die-09148) also cut from Kraft cardstock, I attached it to the card base. Using the Small Hope and Ribbon die (FRA-Die-09216) and the Frantic Stamper Large Support Ribbon (FRA-Die- 09214) were the finishing touches!

Fitztown Halloween

It's time for another Fitztown Challenge Blog challenge. Not surprisingly the challenge theme is
 HALLOWEEN
I love Halloween and love making Halloween cards although it's not necessarily an occasion on which you give cards--especially adults. I love decorating my desks with cards and right now this one is front and center.

The image is, of course, from Fitztown. I colored it with Copic Markers and highlighted it with bling, Stickles and that awesome scary Martha Stewart spider. The design paper and two of the sparkly bats are from Martha Stewart as well. The moon w/bat and scary words are from Frantic Stamper. Doesn't the glittery moon look awesome? Be sure to stop by the Fitztown blog for more inspiration and to enter your own creation into the challenge!

Clean and Simple w/Frantic Stamper

It's World Cardmaking Day! What are you working on? I have several cards in the works. This card is a scraplift from the internet. I wish I could remember the site I got my inspiration from but can I just say, "I LOVE THIS CARD!" I've been told my style is clean and simple but I don't see it that way. I love adding bling, colored digis and sentiments. In my mind that is not clean and simple but this card is.

I started with my usual 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch base. Using a large Spellbinders Nestabilities circle die, I embossed it into the center of the base. I inked the innermost circle to highlight it.  Next I added a die cut of two of the Three Wise Men Silhouette from Frantic Stamper Inc. Using a small circle die, I cut a "moon" out of glitter paper and used silver foil paper cut the word Peace from  Frantic Stamper Inc. Finally I used an Anna Griffin small star punch for a final bit of decoration. It was fast, it was easy and I love it. I did have to make it into a tent card. My white cardstock doesn't have a lot of "umph" to it and doesn't want to stand on it's own. So I channeled my "inner Tim Gunn" and made it work. I hope you like it and maybe it'll inspire you too, to make something for World Cardmaking Day!
UPDATE: I take most of my photos inside and usually in the bathroom. I wanted to see if taking them outside would make that much of a difference. Of course the background change didn't hurt!

Scary Words

The year is slowing coming to a close. Can you believe it's October already? This is breast cancer awareness month so be you are up-to-date with your mammogram and take care of your breast health. As usual in October expect to see lots of BCA cards but this isn't one of them. October is also Halloween month and I absolutely love making Halloween inspired cards. Expect to so lots of those here as well.

Today is the start of Challenge #181 at Kenny K's Krafty Krew. The theme for the next two weeks is
Orange and Black.

I used Trixxie Treat from Kenny K and printed her "big head" style. I colored here with Copic Markers adding Stickles, Liquid Glass and a white Gelly Roll pen to add highlights and additional interest. I cut and embossed the image with a Spellbinder Nestabilities Oval die. The background paper is from Martha Stewart. I also used "Scary Words" dies from Frantic Stamper highlighted with white ink. Finally I popped the image up with foam dots.
